Many events happened during our break from social media. We understand the importance to use our voice to amplify the need to educate ourselves and be an ally in this fight. We’ve always had an inclusive vision and desire to dress the human equally no matter its race or gender. As these are our main values, we felt important to give back to a local movement which has a direct impact on the communities of our city, Montreal.
We wish to continue the discussion on this subject and contribute to the cause by donating to Hoodstock which is a movement founded in 2009 by Montréal-Nord Républik to implant a Social Forum. Later, it then transformed in a space for politicization. Hoodstock offers to the population of Montreal North the reclaim of their voice. One of its main goal, is to allow young people to develop a critical sense and organize themselves as a collective and constructive force.
Their mission as they say on their website is to generate spaces for dialogue and mobilizing initiatives to eliminate systemic inequalities and develop inclusive, safe and dynamic communities.
They already have multiple projects implanted in the community and many to come. One of the projects, the Leadership Comity, is an ongoing project since 2018 that aims to equip young people aged between 18 and 30 that are future “all stars” of the political, artistic, media, social and entrepreneurial milieu. Hoodstock helps them by debating current affairs or allowing these young people to meet stakeholders from the business, political and media spheres.
If you want to learn more about their history, their projects or just to donate to the cause, you can refer to the Hoodstock website for more information.
